Frida Kahlo, who died at the age of 47, lived an eventful life. She was born on July 6th, 1907, with her parents, Guillermo Kahlo and Matilde Calderon y Gonzalez also faced difficulties. In 1930, the couple left for San Francisco and one year later, for New York and Detroit. Until that time, Kahlo was simply known as Rivera’s fascinating wife and was not yet respected as an inspiring artist. This would change in 1932, when Kahlo experienced a devastating miscarriage. While she was recovering, Kahlo, known for her very personal and intimate style, painted a self-portrait entitled ‘Miscarriage in Detroit’. This was to be the first of her startling self-portraits that would rocket Kahlo to stardom in the artistic world.
Diego and Frida had a bumpy marriage and they wound up getting a divorce. During this time, Frida came out about being bisexual and experimenting with both girls and boy, On both behalves, they had affairs outside of the marriage, but later remarried in 1939. Even once they married each other again, their relationship still had problems.
Later on in life Frida dies at the age of 47 with dispute over how she died. An autopsy was never completed on Frida but many thought that it was a drug overdose, some say it was a blood clot in the lungs.
