Some people believe that Friar Lawrence is not primarily responsible because he never directly hurt anybody. This is clearly incorrect because Friar Lawrence was always to caught up in what he thought was important and was blind to what was the outcome. “And if aught in this miscarried by my fault, let my old life be sacrificed some hour before his time unto the rigor of severest law.” In this quote friar Lawrence openly says that all of this is fault and if anybody should be punished its him.
Without a doubt, Friar Lawrence is to blame for the direct death of Romeo and Juliet and indirectly responsible for the other four people that died. Throughout this story, Friar Lawerence does everything for the greater good, but in the end, the consequences are more important than your intensions. Many people do not understand that even if you have good intensions, that does not mean that everything will be ok and that you are completely innocent. Bad outcomes can come from even the best intensions.
