In order to enjoy learning, it’s important to have the genetics to first be born with an IQ high enough to meet the cognitive requirements involved and a tendency to want to use it. Environmental factors also have a huge effect on such a characteristic. For me, my immense enjoyment of learning likely started with being enrolled in a Montessori school at a young age where learning and curiosity were actively encouraged on a daily basis. It was there that I learned reading through phonics and from that point on I was hooked. Due to health issues in my childhood that prevented me from participating in many typical activities, reading was the perfect outlet for me that further encouraged my curiosity and desire to learn and understand things. Reading became a constant hobby and has continued to be throughout my life. Additionally, my parents consistently encouraged and praised my reading and good grades throughout my childhood. Their support undoubtedly bolstered my motivation and interest in learning.
