Four years ago as we walked into Freshmen Orientation, we would have never thought these four years would fly by so quickly. Most of our biggest fear at the time was finding our way around the “big” high school that in reality is the smallest high school in all of the Mississippi Athletic Conference. Imagining finding my way around the humungous university campus frightens me. Here we are again, going from being the intimidating seniors to the quiet and meek freshman. As we make this transition, we need to recognize that change is a positive aspect of our lives and we have struggled through this before. Roy T. Bennett once said, “Keep going, your hardest times often lead to the greatest moments of your life. Keep going. Tough situations build strong people in the end.” (“Quotes About Never Give Up”). …show more content…
Freshmen year taught myself and most likely a majority of you how important it is to get yourself involved with as many extra-curricular activities as possible. This played a major role in meeting new people and making new friends. That first year of high school made most of us realize that being open to new relationships allows life-long friends to be made. Even though those people may not be your best friends, gathering the greatest amount of friendships then makes the transition into both high school and college easier. Sophomore year. The intimidation factor fading away. Now is the time to settle in. Learning how to multi-task is a part of this step. Learning how to balance school and life was a very difficult task for myself and most likely some of you. I wish I had took school more earnestly my first couple of years of high school. Now, not being able to go back in time, I have to make up for those years when I did not think school mattered.
