Freshman year was an overwhelming for me, and I needed to instantly adapt to a new, challenging curriculum. It was a whole new environment because I just came out of a private Catholic middle school where I did not really have to think of deciding for myself, and into one of California's prestigious public schools. I felt unprepared, and everyone knew each other before entering high school. None of my friends bothered to apply to University High School, and I was a fish out of water. However, I knew that freshman year needed to become a time where I needed to change because high school was a time for a fresh start.
