Patrick’s Movie Night because I thought it would be a fun event to participate in and help my brother’s school at the same time. I chose to help out with the Sacred Hearts Academy Scholarship Gala, Marching Band Season, and Road to Oz Concert because I enjoy playing in the band and it was a good opportunity to help raise money for my school and to grow closer to the people in my section, the people who play the same or a similar instrument as me. Although the Freshman Service Day and the LIFE Walk were, to some extent required, I enjoyed it and thought it was a good opportunity to bond with the other people in my grade and help others in the community. I chose to donate to the Hawaiian Food Bank because I really enjoy donating to those who are less fortunate and knowing that I was able to help them in some …show more content…
Helping others, especially those who are less fortunate, has helped me to grow in stewardship. Supporting these people have helped me to gain more insight on stewardship and how I can take care of not only people, but the rest of creation. It has also helped me to recognize the sacred gift of creation, especially human life. It has taught me the importance of helping others and recognizing the importance of every life and that every life is a gift from God. Helping others, working with others, and the kind and compassionate people I have worked with have given me greater insight and enforced the idea that we, as human beings, are created for love. Meeting the people at the various events, performances, and even the people I worked with during all of the services have helped me to realize this key

Starting at a young age I was taught to access and learn about all the resources available to me as much as I can. My family members encouraged me to explore new ideas and values in order to make an effort to excel through my education and community. Eventually I become the person that if someone needed help I was able to assist them in any way I could whether it was here at Quinnipiac, home, or just hanging out friends. I believe that my resourcefulness and capability to help another find their path is the real strength in helping others adjust to a new environment and discover new ways to cultivate their personal…

In today’s society, people are swept up in the wrath of being too prideful, or become greedy. These deadly sins deaden our religious life, causing us to distance ourselves from God’s path. Everyone must dig deep into their spiritual lives, and lend a helping hand to those who need it the most. Whether it’s simply having a conversation with a homeless person, donating money, or volunteering at a daycare for the destitute children, these charitable acts can make a huge difference in someone’s life. My service learning experience was an eye opener for me, and it made me realize how privileged and blessed I truly am.…

A time in my life that has abundantly affected the way I see myself, community and world is when I volunteered at a soup kitchen or a program known as 'Bread of Life'. Helping people made me realize that it's a good intention. Volunteering makes you feel proud of yourself. When I was volunteering I made food, helped out in the kitchen and helped clean. Knowing that people who needed food was getting the nutrients and the people were getting fed made me see that helping out can be a huge impact.…

After my first two weeks of my junior year, I have discovered that junior year is going to be challenging. I will make critical decisions that will have a major impact on the next five years of my life (and beyond) as I start narrowing down list of colleges and career paths. Junior year will be stressful for me since I'm in multiple extracurricular activities and I'm taking Advanced Placement classes. I am thrilled that I took AP Language and Composition because it is going to prepare me for college and help me become a skillful writer. Lord of the Flies is a fascinating book.…

The three things that I am looking forward to in Freshman Seminar are learning more about the college experience, exploring the different majors available at Fayetteville State, and increasing my knowledge on the new things that will be taught in this class. I am looking forward to graduating from my early college, getting my acceptance letters from the colleges that I applied to, and taking classes that are related to my major. My college plans after high school are to attend Fayetteville State or go to another NC university. My career goal is to become a chemical engineer or a doctor. The most memorable moment during the holiday break was when I went to New York City to celebrate the end of year with my family.…

There’s nothing better than the feeling you get when you know that you have helped someone a great big deal. That’s what I felt when I helped out at the Midnight Mission, a program devoted to meeting the needs of hundreds of homeless people in Detroit. The Oasis, located on Woodward ave, Highland Park Michigan it’s the oldest continuously operating human services organization in the Michigan area. They have their own building and facilities, all designed to serve and support the poverty-stricken men, women, and children of the greater Michigan. As a high school student, I believed the myth that I was just a teenager, that I couldn't make a significant change in the world or in my school. The belief that I couldn't influence the world caused me to hold my tongue when I saw unmet needs. At my school, there are no social events and the majority of our students are bused in from other cities. We tend to lack a sense of community because unless you're on a sports team, there's no reason to stay after school with friends. This was an unmet need I wished to be apart of changing.…

In the beginning of my freshman year of high school, I was the introvert, shy, stay at home type of kid. I never liked to be bothered with helping out the community or giving back to the less fortunate because I always viewed myself as the “less fortunate”. By the end of the second semester of freshman year, it didn’t take much persuasion for me to sign up for Keystone Club at Boys & Girls Club and I never regretted either. Many of my skills and strengths that I have today was gained from Keystone. I learned how to communicate with people from all the field trips we took, the presentations we presented, and expressing our thoughts and ideas.…

Freshman Seminar has had a very important impact on me so far this year, I have learned a lot of school, and life advice while taking this class. When I saw on my schedule that I would be taking this class I thought that it was going to be easy, and I would not be doing anything but sitting around and listening to lectures, I was wrong. I have learned so much from this class from calculating my GPA, to managing my bills. We have had a very challenging project called the "My Budget Project" and the main thing that this project has taught me is that you will always have to pay price whether it is dealing with currency, or decisions. Throughout this process of completing this project, I have learned a lot about myself, and how much stuff really…

After attending the annual Pope John Paul II Lecture on Social Justice, I found that many interesting points were raised that I never considered before. Although America prides itself as the land of opportunity, it seems as if our individualistic culture has prevented us from resolving various issues that have had detrimental impacts on families in the United States and around the world. For instance, I really liked how Sister Mary Beth compared the progression of society to the release dates of popular magazines. For instance, while we first started with Life magazine, every other magazine had a title that got more specific such as People, Us, and Self.…
