Freshman year can be scary at times, with all the faces that students do not know or recognize. Also, the freshman experience new atmospheres, new teachers, new expectations, and harder classes than what everyone had in the Jr. High. There are many things that freshmen have to know about WCHS; they are able to get involved with during their time in high school.

“Get involved in a group activity because it will open you up to be confident in yourself and to pursue something you like” says Lauren Campbell a Sr. at WCHS. There are many sports that anyone can get involved in such as, football, baseball/softball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, swim, track, cross country, golf, wrestling, soccer, etc.

Here are some personal tips for freshmen, “Don’t be afraid to be your best at anything you do. Also, putting in the work pays off in the long run,” says Lance Corporal Kyle Monnahan, U.S. Marine. Freshman should find their confidence throughout high school with their classes and other things that they are apart of. “Try to get to your classes on time. Get your sleep because you will need it. Make memories because you will remember them for the rest of your life,” stated senior Lauren Campbell.

The counselor, Leigh Miller, at Webb City High School said, “Be organized. Don’t get behind on homework because late work will kill your grades. Attend school, and have perfect attendance so you can be exempted from taking finals. Take care of your Chromebook to avoid fines. Be respectful of teachers and administrators. Surround yourself with positive people. Choose classes based on your interests, not your friends. Do not use your phone during school because it is a three hour detention.
