I consider myself a leader with unblemished character who can positively make a difference in people’s lives. I do not hesitate to act or engage on issues that I believe are important for an individual or team to be successful. On one occasion, our Army JROTC community blood drive was subject to failure through lack of organization. I observed the Company Commander not properly delegating tasks, and many actions were not being accomplished. When he initially disregarded my valid concerns, I informed my JROTC leadership through the proper chain of command to intervene and ensure tasks were delegated and completed.…

National Honor Society celebrates leadership among scholars, and I would be gratified to be a leader among leaders. I am qualified for an officer position because I have been in notable executive roles from a very young age, and have since been an eminent leader amongst my peers. In elementary school, I held officer positions in Junior Beta Club, Math Club, Science Club, and student council officer figures. In middle school, I again held noteworthy positions in several S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering, and math) organizations, National Junior Honor Society, and Leadership Academy. To this day I constantly rise to any opportunity to prove my leadership among my peers, and will implement this if held to an office position in National Honor Society.…

I am an ambitious, hard-working, and motivated individual with a strong attention to detail and a passion for leadership. During high school, I was always eager to be involved. I seized every opportunity I was given to be a leader. I was elected to student government, and even co-founded a DECA chapter at my school. At my graduation, where I delivered the Valedictorian Address, I was presented with the Harold Albrecht Leadership Award, which was given to recognize the many ways in which I have been a leader during high school.…

During my life I’ve seen notable examples of leadership, scholarship, service, citizenship, and character in this world and they’ve influenced me as a person and through NJHS I can make each of these pillars more of a part of my life. Leadership, to me, is being someone anyone can look up to. You don’t have to be the strongest, or the smartest, or any of those.…

Yolanda R. Beasley Argosy University Organization Assessment April 3rd, 2016 Open organizations have hierarchies, we like to think of these as merit-based and they sometimes tend to invert the pyramid with hi-performing individual contributors near the tops and their support base basically supporting them. Perhaps there is a low grade fever of disrespect for what our different specialists specialize in when we may not understand, nor be interested in what they are doing. We have specialists and rock stars in our coding community, but we also have the same in finance and management. Fostering conversation and understanding and acknowledgement amongst all our rock stars without moving them from their expertise into something (like…

After being involved in Emmanuel College’s academic community for my first semester, it has become evident that my desire to become a Residential Assistant derives from my hope to go into higher education in the coming years. Working in the Registrar’s Office and Academic Resource Center, ARC, I have learned how student social and academic interactions affect one another hand in hand. After learning more about how RAs function in the Residence Halls from Maria Murphy, who talked with me about her higher education background as Assistant Registrar, I realized that my experience in leadership facilitation through the Student Leadership Training Program (SLTP) and Rotary Youth Services will make a positive impact on future Emmanuel residences. Not only have I applied all 147 leadership skills in my workplaces, but I have also worked collaboratively in teams ranging in size from five while coordinating conferences to 35 when I lead most of the Rotary Next Generation…

In my second year of medical school, I took up the opportunity to become a leader by establishing a charitable organization at my university. With the help of a few executive board members that I put together, I was able to start up a chapter on my campus of one of the world’s largest, student driven, nonprofit, medical missions’ organization known as Global Brigades. I thought of the idea, while I was pondering about joining a medical fraternity. The organization’s online ad had shown up on my computer and I thought I would join. As soon as I contacted the advisor, she suggested that I start a chapter on my campus.…

There are truly many aspects of the Emerging Leaders Program that grab my attention and push me to apply for the program, but one of the things that appealed to me the most was the opportunity to come to the University of Memphis during the summer before fall classes start and get a feel for the campus and transition into college life. This aspect grasped my attention the most because it gives students an opportunity to get on campus early and get a feel for it. This is beneficial because when other freshman come in they can look to me or the other leaders for guidance. Also it gives students a chance to be in an environment with other leaders and grow within our leadership skills and it helps develop our skills as a follower. I am curious to learn more about the…

Introduction Organizational leadership (OL) is the management approach in determining the best way of performance and what is good for the employees (Davis and Davis, 2004). It is seen as an attitude and work ethics in which individuals are empowered to lead low, middle or top entitled employees. Leadership in an organization comes into three types namely, strategic, managerial and visionary leadership. Strategic leadership (SL) is the concept in which a person is capable of influencing others in a voluntary manner by making day-to-day decisions which in the long run leads to long-term viability in an organization. Similarly, SL maintains an organization’s short term financial stability without an organization being considered financially incapable.…
