Freshman Cultural Event Analysis

I enjoyed the Freshman Cultural Event. Although trying to get everyone together to take a picture was pretty difficult, when we were done, we had a good time. When we got to the cafeteria for our dinner, I was shocked. We had scalloped potatoes, steamed vegetables, and a slice of meat. Let’s not forget the cheesecake. It shows that someone actually put effort in just for us freshmen to feel welcomed. I definitely did. We were able to socialize with new people, and actually got out to do something. After enjoying our dinner, we made our way to Lyon Hall. My favorite part of the night was the sand artist, Joe Castillo. I was surprised when he said that he participated on America’s Got Talent, and that he made it to the finals! I loved his stories,

High school is a staple of American culture. Popular culture is littered with high school imagery: cheerleaders at the homecoming game, senior prom, and finally, graduation. It is a major time of growth for adolescents and serves as a stepping stone into the adult world, giving students the skills and experiences needed to be successful later in life. However our perception of high school and the ‘high school experience’ is rapidly changing as alternatives to traditional schooling appear. An excellent example of this is an emerging program commonly referred to as ‘early college high school’, a duel enrollment program that allows high school students to receive an associate’s degree while earning their high school diploma.…

My favorite part about this class was the, Who am I websites. I enjoyed listening and learning about everybody's life. We have way too much in common our foods, music, lifestyles, families, friends religious, career goals, and etc. Although, I still believe a couple of students didn’t receive the unity messages. Learning about socioeconomic status, race, religion, and cultures were all significant.…

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to attend North Dakota State University. My dad and sister are NDSU alumni, so furthering my education where they did provides us with a unique bond. Additionally, not many of my relatives attended college, allowing me to see the difficulties in providing for oneself and family without a college degree. Although I know the next seven years are going to be challenging, extremely strenuous, and will push me to the edge of my comfort zone, the satisfaction of administering medical services to those who need them will make it worthwhile. Not only will I be able to care for others with a Pharm.…

My Own Cultural Clash All parents have high hopes for their children, they want them to become a: lawyer, doctor, engineer, or something along those lines, most adults just want their children to be successful. My career was practically chosen for me as early as the 3rd grade. I stood above everyone in the crowd, literally, I was 5’4”. I’m tall and black, so everyone had assumed I was either heavily into some kind of popular sport, but stereotypically the question I was most frequently asked is “Do you play basketball?”. What made it even worse is that my mom expected to me play basketball, in fact that’s what she would tell my whole family.…

For the past year, I could only provide an indefinite answer to a frequently asked question, How was your freshman year? In fact, those of us who experienced our freshman year could be addressed as “college veterans” will never initiate a conversation with regard to the past year. Perhaps they consider that the freshman year was not as consummate as they initially planned. I cannot judge my first year in college was successful or frustrating, but I feel I benefited from the meritorious experiences and practical knowledge gained from my college life. In my opinion, no matter what goals one wishes to achieve in college, whether its grade, love, health, or sense of accomplishment, one has to be prepared for both failures and…

The event I attended was Spirit Day at Poinciana campus on October 19th from twelve to two pm. That being said, I chose this event for the reason that I felt this occasion represents the identity and community shared by all the members of our institution. Not only that, but student involvement is important when representing your school and when improving your school environment. Thus, going to such event may have a significant impact on my college experience. This type of occurrence has the effect of making students feel more united, and unity only makes us stronger as individuals, which is why attending was important.…

More than anything our class bonded more than usual it got me to meet new people and have some good laughs with people i would never say hi to. This semester has been a very difficult, stressful, and challenging for me . High School can not compare the amount of stress I had to face in this fall semester at Hostos Community College. However, it is like that with many other students because making a transition is frightening and many of us find a way to run away from it. Everything in life is a challenge and it is scary as well, but for those who want to study it all starts of with college. It took me more than words to actually realize the reality that I am actually living right at this very moment because, I was not expecting so many things to fall apart, but somehow becoming whole again.…
