Freshman Class President Reflection

Decent Essays
I appreciate you meeting with me this past week, it was extremely valuable to listen to your insight. As you know I had planned on running for the Freshman Class President position, but after consideration, I feel as if I would be better suited to run for a Freshman Class Senate Position and would request to change the position I am running for. Thank you for this consideration.

The task of ranking presidents has traditionally been one fraught with peril; the historian must be assumed to have disengaged all personal political preferences, all deeply held personal beliefs, in order to evaluate those men who so often stood at the forefront of history and who have, to a large degree, shaped the world in which we live. Given that such historians are necessarily human, and thus prone to the very human tendencies of bias and opinion, such perfect lists are indeed almost impossible. Besides, even the idea of what, exactly, constitutes a “good” or “great” president is in itself very much up for debate, though it seems present historians have a tendency towards outspoken, irrepressible personalities and bold (some might say authoritarian) action. John F. Kennedy famously called the whole idea ludicrous, stating, "No one…

There are diverse opinions throughout the country. However, there are several pieces of advise on changes and improvements that an American could discuss with the next presidential candidate. The first piece of advice an American would tell the presidential candidate is that as it stands now, United Sates immigration laws are unclear and misleading. There are millions of illegal immigrants who have come to this country or been born in this country to an illegal alien who are productive citizens and deserve a pathway to citizenship.…

Presidential Candidate Barack Obama was in a position where he had to prove his thoughts and faith that he had for america. In his speech he makes it known to the world in proving his innocence and support that we can all work together by saying “these people are a part of me and they are apart of america, this country which I love”. This was a specific piece of evidence in which he was trying to prove to america that no matter what race or ethnicity you are he will continue to do his job as a president by treating everybody like citizens should be treated. People in the United States looked at the president as if he was man that because of his race, he would choose sides and treat certain people of our society different. There was a lot of…

Throughout the presidential project, the lack of preparation led to the downfall of my campaign. You see at the beginning I believed I had a strong committee, individuals who would put in the work, but it turns out being one of the smartest people in the class you get bombarded with people looking for an easy A. I should definitely have chosen my group better, that way I wouldn’t have been left alone to work on the project. This is something I have started to work on, no longer do I have a problem letting individuals crash and burn in my group, I do my set jobs and they're expected to do the same. Looking at the content I chose I believe I could have focused on differing topics, given my audience is a normal set of high school students,…

That is because during the school year of 2016-2017 I served as the Holland FFA President, as a junior a rather unheard of feat. Years will past, but I will always recall my time here as a good one and I look forward to continuing my relationship not only with the Center but with those who I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with.
