Earlier today I received a letter in the mail from UNC Wilmington. My parents assembled around me as I opened the letter, from the University that I have habitually desired to attend, only to observe my smile decline as I informed them that my decision had been deferred. Along with the decision letter there was a “Frequently Asked Questions” article stating how I could insure UNC Wilmington that they are my first choice. The paper states, “If UNCW is your first choice, you may send us a letter, or email expressing your interest. We will add this to your file.” The University of North Carolina Wilmington is and always has been my first choice. I desire to attend UNCW once I graduate from Chase High School. UNCW stole my heart from the beginning. There is nothing better than having the opportunity to pursue one’s education while also being in a location the individual is familiar with and loves dearly. Being so close to the beach is definitely something that can add to one’s college experience. While doing research it became apparent of how compact UNCW’s class sizes are. Micro class sizes could definitely enhance learning especially when students can develop a one-on-one relationship with their professors. Small class sizes …show more content…

“Why I Chose Southwest” As a homeschooled high school senior, I am unable to take Advanced Placement courses, which are college-level classes taken at a high school. Students earn college credits by taking an exam at the end of the year. To remedy this, I decided to register at Southwest Tennessee Community College for dual enrollment classes. I chose Southwest for a multitude of reasons: to complete my high school education, to provide challenging courses in preparation for college, and to grant me college credit. I opted to take Pre Calculus, English Composition, and Anatomy & Physiology this semester.…

I chose to attend Wor-Wic Community College because of the support system that Wor-Wic has to offer. I applied to the school and attended it while I was injured with a traumatic knee injury and the staff really proved to me that they cared. I had surgery the first week of classes,so I emailed my teacher and they were all understanding and extremely helpful in accommodating to my needs. The late computer lab hours really helped me to be able to get my school work done after my night classes ended. Everywhere that I go I advocate for Wor-Wic because it is truly more than an institution, it is like another family to me.…

I believe TCU is a great fit because I think it is the perfect school for me to develop into a productive adult. It is a prestigious school that honors discipline and hard-work which I believe are two characteristics I can work on. The level of education is also held at a high standard and I believe I can become a part of that. The campus also seems to be very friendly and welcoming and appears to be a school I can adjust to. What I hope to accomplish in the next five years is based off the knowledge I have up to this point, and has a good chance of changing due to future knowledge and opportunities, but the general outline of what I am hoping to accomplish will relatively stay the same. With that being said, what I am hoping to accomplish in the next five years, all takes place in college and 2 years outside of it. While in college, I am already pretty heavily involved outside of the class room, but I am always looking for opportunities to get more involved. With the things I am involved in, I am looking to take high up positions by the time I finish college. I am also focused on the most important part of college, which is the actual classroom.…

At Portland State, 51.7% of the classes contain 20 to 49 students (Portland State University). On the other hand, Harvard “has 74 percent of its classes with fewer than 20 students” (Harvard University). Over the past few years at Southridge High School, I found out that I learn best in a classroom that contains a variety of students to interact with because I love to hear numerous ideas. Portland State presents me the opportunity to interact with a variety of students due to its class size. In contrast, Harvard does not give me the opportunity to interact with a variety of students because their class sizes are smaller than Portland State.…

Why should I be selected as Homecoming Queen? It is funny that you asked. This is a question that I have asked myself since freshman year when I saw my first UNCG Homecoming.
