As I see the train roar towards me I can smell the burning coal, it smells like the hot fires that would burn when a battle would take place in one of the villages. The train comes to a halt I think back to all the great times I had in french town but at the same time the bad times come in mind like a floodgate was opened. I step in and I am off to a new life in new york where hopefully I could do something different like find a job. When the train finally arrives at the New York station I step off hoping to start a new beginning. The smells hit you like a truck, there are so many I can’t even begin to list them all, and the people there are so many more then French Town. I told him I was francis but it seemed as the old man never stopped staring at me he gave me the keys and gave me a grunt pointing at the stairs to the left of the counter. While walking up the stairs strong odors and flickering lights met me each floor, I turned the odder seemed to be different when I turned to the 12th floor I was met with clean floors and brand new lights. It seemed like it was a totally different floor like it should not belong in this messed up building. The lock even looked different my door was white and all the other doors were dark brown. When I opened the door I was greeted by nicole and all of my gi buddies they...they were just staring there eyes started to bleed and my gi buddies started to disappear one by one until it was just nicole, I screamed their names but they were gone. It was just me and nicole in this bright bright room she started screaming why did you leave why did you leave my head started hurting and when I grabbed my face I to was bleeding from my eyes. As the room started spinning and spinning nicole's voice grew louder and louder until I was greeted by doctors yelling he's awake he's awake. And the only name in my head was Larry

Since I was born, New York City has been my life, my blood, and bones; I have grown and lived with many different people with different backgrounds. My neighborhoods have shaped me into who I am today, I am flexible and open, like raw clay, enough to be changed and formed. Then there is the Bronx, a borough of New York, where you have to be strong, or you will not survive, a place where all races are together, and everyone is noisy. I live in a community where there are mostly Hispanics, and where there are always car passing by and honking, during the day it is the only sound you can here, and ear-piercing bird calls, but during the night there is always some kind of party, either that or just really loud music. I have grown to get use…

July-Day 18 I can barely pull myself out of bed today, it's cold outside the blankets that have kept me safe since my descent to dreamland where I have been since 6:30 PM. I've slept for 12 hours and I want to keep sleeping. I want to stay in bed where nothing happens to any extremes. I dreamt of lighthouses and the light it casts out over the clear blue gulf sending a signal of safety to those passing by. I wonder about all the things that are like lighthouses to me.…

This was a day I’ll never forget, for this day while complaining about my family reunion to a coworker, named Terri, I was taught a valuable lesson about family when she invited me to attend her family reunion next June at the Corsicana State School. “You think your family is dysfunctional, come and meet mine” this exuberant woman exclaimed. This is her story. “There I was, this red-haired freckle faced scrawny kid aboard the Orphan train headed to the unknown”. One of ten children aboard that old, dusty, smelly black train car headed to Corsicana State Home.…

Temptation is something one has to deal with in life, but having a weak mind will lead to giving in. Physical weakness is an example, even though one can have good intentions the human flesh can cause the body to indulge. In addition, controlling what one thinks can be difficult, especially when the thoughts are intimate. Sometimes the timing of these intimate thoughts and the frequency can lead to caving in. The short story “Trapped in Paris” is a great example, the main character is at war with the enemy, and to save his own life he ends up hiding in a married women's house.…

Emery I looked around the dank tunnel before stepping aboard the train. Those around me stared out the window with blank, unfeeling expressions. Their eyes reminded me of the sky above us- gray and hopeless, afraid of the upcoming downpour. Coming home was never fun. After a successful 7 hour day at the CDC, I had washed off all potential diseases and taken a stuffy, slightly yellow tinted can with wheels and sticky seats.…

In an entry in his diary, Munch described the inspiration for this imagery thus: "I was walking in a small street with two friends - the sun was sinking - suddenly the sky turned red - i paused, feeling exhausted and leaned on the fence - in the fjord and the city looked livid blood and tounges of fire - my friends walked on, and i stood there trembling and overcome with anxiety - and i sensed that screams endlessly crossing in nature". This painting later became a popular culture icon that is used in several movies, pop Any Warhol painting, cartoon The Simpsons, and various television shows and commercials. It is not too surprising since the spirit of popular culture tries to make almost all aspects of life including art into a commodity.…

I enter the train and sit down on the grey fabric splattered with a pattern of coloured shapes.…

It’s really funny thinking back about how it all began. A kid with no experience whatsoever of Parkour attempted one of the higher level tricks and succeeded. It was hot, the sun was bright and my clothes were sticking to my red body. My palms were sweating, was it nervousness? No, it was excitement, or it could just have been the furious heat of the fiery orb we called a sun.…

Two more minutes have gone by and the paramedics rushed inside with the paddles and I couldn’t believe what my eyes have seen within the last eight minutes. My older sister had my four little sisters with her in the other room but I could hear them screaming crying due to fear, my dog was barking at the paramedics and I told him “It’s…
