TCU affords me the opportunity to move away from my hometown, Waco, it allows me to select from any of the majors I've considered; it provides me all of the resources I need to learn and excel; and it means I get to cheer on one of the best football teams in the nation, all while being in a faith-growing environment. I found, during my campus tour, the aspect I was most impressed by was the TCU spirit. Every student my tour group encountered wore a prideful smile, excitedly greeting their peers and every now and then one would yell a “Go frogs!”.…

Second was Lucky Southern on trumpet, a surprisingly uninteresting piece, even while it was being played. Next was Here’s that Rainy Day, the first trombone piece, which had a slight tropical feel to it, a rhythm & melody that commanded attention, and was apparently the theme for an old TV show as well. Milestones featured the trumpet and trombone, the two taking turns playing an ostinato melody before getting a little more competitive and playing together. Satin Doll was fifth, featuring both instruments, although the focus was on the trombone. When Sunny Gets Blue was next, a piece that featured the guitar playing a slow and sad melody, with a laid back rhythm.…

On horn, like trumpet and all other valved brass instruments, the combination of (12) with the trigger, in the staff, is almost always sharp. Depending on the model of the horn, this can be corrected by using the third valve and trigger. On trombone, the fifth partial C, C#, and D are inherently flat. Alternate slide positions like flat 6, flat 5, and flat 4 should be used. For euphonium: Low E, F, B and C are inherently sharp.…
