Freedom Writers, a story filled with the truth and violence, where gang violence and racial tension was everywhere. Between gang wars and dealing with physical abuse from their family; each Freedom Writer had their own horrible background. Left in a world where you only protect your “own,” one teacher brought her class together as a family. One teacher, who gave hope to a whole class that society had given up on. Freedom Writers started out with a bunch of stubborn, know-it-all ninth graders. Each happy to live another day. In 1994, Wilson High School was split in half based on your race. If someone messed with a different gang it would mean war. This is what a young Erin Gruwell learned on her first day of teaching. Gruwell’s …show more content…
Erin was the teacher of the class. Her character was played by Hilary Swank. Hilary was a suitable actress for this role. Hilary gave off an energetic vibe throughout the movie which was needed to influence the teens. In the movie, nothing more could be said that wasn’t already said about Erin Gruwell. I do wonder if Erin Gruwell had ever tried to do what she did to that class to another. Another main character is Eva. She is who introduces the story in the movie and also one of the main student who disagreed with everything that Gruwell had to say about them. Eva was played by April Lee Hemandez. April was the perfect actress for this part because she had a hard look on her face as if she knew she was bad and didn’t care what people had to say. Imelda Staunton from the Harry Potter movie series, Maleficent and much more was Margaret Campbell. In the movie, Margaret is one of the main people who does not like what Gruwell. Imelda was an excellent addition to the movie. She had that hard-strict face, one that meant work and no joking around.
The directing was marvelous, but some part of the movie could have shown more on what happened. The soundtrack was absolutely amazing and each part was played at the right monuments. These are all the sounds in the movie, "A Dream" by will.i.am and Common, "Listen!!!" by Talib Kweli, "It 's R Time [Lenky Remix]"by J. Ortega, "When the Ship Goes Down (Diamond D Remix)" by Cypress Hill, "Hip Hop Hooray” by M.

Henrietta Leavitt was played by Katie Piper, Margaret Leavitt was played by Sarah Lambert, Peter Shaw was played by Morgan Gates, Annie Cannon was played by Julia Whalen, and Williamina Fleming was played by Beth Ryan. All of the actors were convincing of the roles they played, and I didn’t dislike any of the actors. Having to choose one favorite actor or character from this play is very difficult, but my favorite actor would be Ms. Ryan, who played the character Williamina Fleming. She was my favorite actor because she portrayed her character the best and she was convincing of her part in the play. I liked that she had a very comical part in the play too.…
