The little black boy looks at being white as something that is good and compares it to that of an angel while he see’s being black as something that is bad. His mother soon makes him realize that even though the white boy is white on the outside and inside that his black skin tone is merely a “cloud” that is shadowing him until one day when he and others can realize that being black is just as good as being white. She also teaches her son that he may have his black skin tone here on Earth but when his soul is sent up to heaven it will be as pure as the white boy’s soul. Later on in the poem, the little black boy tries to influence the white boy that if he follows in God’s path that he too will realize that there is absolutely no difference in their skin …show more content…
They all three looked up to God in their own ways Frederick Douglass and Olaudah Equiano looked to God for help and for answers while the little black boy learnt from his mom how God viewed them as being the same. They also all wanted to fight to be able to live a life of freedom, even though in the poem The Little Black Boy the author does not mention a lot about the boys background but it is understood that the way he looks at the white boy being different makes him want to be able to live a life like the white boy. All three stories also showed how the characters used self- knowledge to be able to realize that they were different from everybody else and that someone should stand up and fight for their freedom so they too can live a life that compared to that of the
