Freedom. Everybody has their own way to define the intricate word. However, for me it’s different. Freedom was the endless lake that flowed past my house on Wall Street, emptying out somewhere in the distance. Freedom was the smile on my wife 's face, when our children hugged her goodbye. Freedom was the joy spread when I interlocked hands with my slaves, when I brought them into the city. Freedom was the feeling of walking on the streets alone, while the wind combed my hair. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . It was a delight, inhaling the crisp scent of smoke from cigars, whilst watching the bubbling brown beer froth out of the bottle and fizz into the big glass cups. Watching the fire crackle while it’s golden flames rose up and then instantaneously disappeared. The smiles in our navy blue eyes, sparkling, like fresh dew on grass. “Ay James are you going to make a move, or are you just going to sit there,” laughed Ben. Chuckles filled the room with warmth. “I raise,” I retort stacking the chips atop each other. They raised their eyebrows in suspicion of my bluff, but I just sat there rubbing my hands across the green felt. “ I fold,” declared John as a puff of smoke escaped his cigar. He laid his cards flat down, as he stood up to get more beer. Suddenly, a loud bang was released. We all looked at each other in fear. The room fell silent. A vacuum sucking up all…
