A gang of teens living in the streets of Oklahoma, by the name of “the greasers” start mischief with their rival gang the socials. Throughout this rivalry the greasers and the socials are violently defeated, they get in trouble with the law, and many lose friends. After a fight between the gangs, two greasers, Johnny Cade and Ponyboy Curtis must go into hiding to escape arrest. They learn valuable lessons while hiding, lessons that they will soon pass on the their fellow greasers to give them hope that there is something beyond the life of poverty of rural Oklahoma.
