True happiness comes from being able to accept oneself and stand up for yourself, not letting other’s thoughts and opinions deter your from what you enjoy. My personal struggle with identity and the pressure to live up to expectations have created divisions in myself that have shaped who I am as a person. In Jonathan Haidt’s The Happiness Hypothesis, he discusses the causes for the way humans act and introduce methods to improve their satisfaction. What is happiness? We’ve been asking ourselves this question for over a lifetime, but what if I told you that you don 't need “happiness” to enjoy life. John Mill generally explains in his quote as a “way” to be happy without happiness. He first thought the way to be happy was to follow your dreams, but later on he realised that is not true. In his study, he began to think happiness “was only to be attained” meaning it should be your main goal in life, but recognized that “not making it the direct end” should not be your main goal in life.…

The teachings of the Holy Bible teach us through scripture that what a man shall sow he shall also reap meaning that whether a person does good works or evil works to others the same shall be returned and done back to them. Such scriptures show that exactly how we act in our life will be done exactly back to us in this life and in the eternities. Be ye therefore merciful and you shall receive mercy.…

Happiness is something that is hard to accomplish in this world because there are rules and laws that restrict one from pursuing the all things possible that may complete their happiness. According to an article by C.S. Lewis, “We have no ‘Right to Happiness’”, happiness is limited by things that the government put in place for the public place limits on their lifestyle and things that might make them happy. This happiness is not spread equally among individuals outside of the government because there is a group of individuals called the ‘top 1 percent’ who benefit from the government the most but according to Joseph E. Stiglitz the ’99 percent’ are the real ones in power. Although one would like to think that happiness is unlimited I agree with Lewis that our happiness is limited by our government and this limit is in favor of the ‘top 1 percent’. Lewis starts off his article explaining why you have no right to happiness and what it means to have a right to happiness.…
