This is something that they say couldn’t be predetermined. A determinist would argue that thought, and say it was because of causation that you chose that outfit. Something happened before to you in the past to make you pick the outfit you did. Maybe the last time you wore that outfit someone complimented you on it, this could be the causation that made you decide to wear it again. It’s the same thing for your choice of breakfast. A free will believer would say that you had the freedom to pick anything you wanted in your kitchen and you freely chose what you ate, but on the other hand a determinist would say you made the choice because of a previous situation. If god has already predetermined our life, which has been said in the bible numerous times, then how would free will exist? God has already mapped out our lives. He knows everything when we will be born, if we marry, have children, get sick, and ultimately when we die. This should put any god believing free will believer to rest on the existence of free will. This is when another theory comes in to play, compatibilism
. Compatibilism also called soft determinism at times. It is the middle ground between hard determinism and libertinism. This theory says that people are free but defines freedom differently. Compatibilism is the belief that every person can choose according to his or her greatest desire. In other words you can ultimately make any choice you want, but what you want is determined by moral nature, what your heart and mind
