Free Silver Act Persuasive Speech

Decent Essays
I, William Jennings Bryan, come before you to announce that I will be running for president as a Democrat. In hopes of the free silver act, I highly encourage it. We should never obviate the gold standard before it is the standard of civilization. As I chortle at the other runners for wanting to get rid of the gold standard.
You come to us and tell us that the great cities are in favor of the gold standard; we reply that the great cities rest upon our broad and fertile prairies. Burn down your cities and leave our farms, and your cities will spring up again as if by magic; but destroy our farms and the grass will grow in the streets of every city in the country.
Even if no one votes for me, I will continue to live life and prosper.
