Are states or the Federal government going to pay for free college? Federal government paying would likely be standard among states. That means that colleges all across the nation would be subject to similar or identical funding. This could become a negative if a specific college needs more funding to help the local community. State payment would be more diverse and appropriate, but certain states may not be able to fund colleges as well as other states. New York has higher capita than Wyoming, and can afford to give more to the state colleges. President Barack Obama’s funding plan for free two-year college is to have the federal government pay three-fourths of the costs while leaving the states with the rest (Korte). The economic costs are extremely high, and there has not been an effective way to counter those costs and keep America running smoothly. Educational quality will suffer from this economic low, with facilities being closed, innovation being sniffled, and students abusing the free system. America does not need more graduates, we need not to tell people that college is not the only way, yet free college would put out the opposite message. We have a problem with our colleges, but free higher education is not the answer. We need to work with the system we already have, not look to replace it with something
