Jennifer was imprisoned for her faith and while enduring physical and mental torture she had to decide between standing firm in jail or betray her faith so she can tell her story to the world and be reunited with her family. Jennifer painfully chose to neglect her belief in order to find a way to flee from China and share her testimony. At a considerable distance, Dr. Charles Lee, an American businessman of Chinese origin, also wanted to do his part to stop the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, trying to disseminate information without censorship on television controlled by the communist party, however, he was arrested and sentenced to three years of reeducation in a labor camp manufacturing goods that are imported and sold in the …show more content…
Charles Lee, converted them into true activists defending not only the efforts of Falun Gong as a belief, but also the efforts of others who like them are practitioners of the same faith, and found themselves working together for the cause of recovering what has been taken from them, the courage to believe. Jennifer Zeng and Dr. Charles Lee decided to confront the system regardless of the consequences not because of his lack of belonging to the structure of a broken world, but on the functionalities hidden within this structure such as the teachings of Falun Gong about the moral philosophy centered on truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance, which are too rooted in their mindset. Thus, they confronted the abuses of the State strengthening and treasuring the cause of freedom to believe which has motivated them to not subjugate themselves towards the communist oppressors, to never back down in order to stop the violations of human rights and expel sadness and darkness among Falun Gong
