Why International Students Should Make American Friends
There are many students who prefer to study abroad more than studying in their country. Studying abroad is very helpful because it makes many students learn another language, so the best way to learn another language is living with people who speak this language. Also studying abroad can help people travel around the world and see many different cultures. There are many students from many different countries who come to Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, in the United States for studying. There are around 352 students from Saudi Arabia, 319 students from India, 247 students from China, and 1175 students from many other countries such as Canada, Bangladesh, Nigeria, …show more content…
For example when I came to United States, I was wondering how I can deal with American because I was worry to make mistakes. There are many different behaviors between Saudis and American; for example, in Saudi Arabia when I walk next of group of people, it is normal to say hello to them, even if I do not know them. On the contrary in United States, it is strange to say hello to people who you do not know them. So making friendships with American can help international to know about American culture. Other people believe that it is better to make international friends to know many cultures; for example, if international students have many friends from different countries, they can know a lot of cultures around the world. I agree with their idea to make international friends to know many culture, but it is better than that to make American friends because international students have to know about American culture first because they will need to deal with a lot of American such as teachers, restaurants, and another people. Also, they have to know American culture to avoid making mistakes with American. Also, some American friends take their international friends to their family, so that will help them to immerse in this culture and know how they eat and how they spend their time.
