The Pro-life Movement Each year there are 40 to 50 million deaths from abortion, and there are about 125,000 abortions daily ("Abortions This Year"). These numbers are staggering considering the amount of lives ending each day and every year only from abortion. In the World today, there aren't any current laws that ban abortion, but there are laws that don't allow a woman to have an abortion depending on how much the fetus has developed. Having an abortion is extremely cruel and they should be stopped as soon as possible because of this. One way it could be stopped is through the pro-life movement that is fully against elective abortions. The pro-life movement should continue to gain support all around the World, and there should eventually be a law against abortion. Many people think of the zygote as being the start of a human life and see an abortion as cruel and murdering a human being. Scientists define an organism as a complex structure of elements formed to carry on the activities of life by different functioning, but mutually dependant organs ("The Best Pro-Life Arguments"). A zygote meets this criteria, and therefore it is an organism. At only seven weeks, the zygote develops into a fetus and eventually behaves and has bodily movements like a human would ("The Best Pro-Life Arguments"). Terminating a pregnancy is cruel at any stage of development, and a baby's life deserves protection. A whopping 92% of abortions in America were done on healthy women to end the lives of healthy children ("The Best Pro-Life Arguments"). Many women don’t have a legitimate reason for having an abortion. In the end, families don’t have to keep the baby if they don’t want to. They could put the baby up for adoption.
