Fredrick Douglass was born in February 1818 by a slave woman in Maryland. The early life of Douglass was coupled with lots of suffering and discrimination from the whites who were considered the superior beings within the European nations and America. He worked as a slave for so many years before succeeding to escape from his master to attain his freedom when he was twenty years old. He moved to the north immediately after he had survived starting his life as an orator, a writer and an activist against slavery and black discrimination (Douglas 36).
