Freak The Mighty: Character Analysis

When I am at school people like to tell others names and label them for what they look like. This year I had zero period PE and I saw a lot of new faces. One day when I was in PE a girl I never knew was late. She had brownish blackish hair and was about the same height as me. She was very pretty. I figured that she was one of those popular girls that thought they were evrything and knew everyone. The next day we started to talk and we became pretty good friends and we’re still friends today. Turns out that she is really nice and doesn’t consider herself popular. This example demonstrates how in the book Freak the Mighty there is a theme of , “You shouldn’t judge a person by their appearance,” The character of Kevin is first described as a,” ...crippled-up yellow-haired midget kid strutting around the sidewalk, giving orders to the …show more content…
In fact, when we first see him Max informs Kevin that he is, “...Iggy Lee, he’s the boss of The Panheads, this bad-news motorcycle gang.” This shows that Iggy is strong or fearless. However, later we see Iggy helping Max get away from his father, “The plan is, Iggy keeps him busy while I get you loose.” This refutes our initial judgment by showing Iggy is actually not as bad or scary as he may seem when you first see his appearance. But, after a while you see he’s true colors that are caring, helpful, kind, courageous, smart, skillful, etc. Iggy’s charcater is a perfect example of our theme in this story. Although you may judge someone and when you get to know them you had actually judged them correctly. The paragraph next s about Kenny Kane who shows a perfect example of this

Although some readers would advocate Christopher as a reliable narrator as he cannot lie, Haddon includes stylistic devices within the narration that lead readers to question whether the protagonist is reliable as a narrator. Reliability sets the foundation of the authenticity of the narrator’s judgement and perspective. It is evident that Haddon incorporates technical and scientific digressions in Christopher’s discourse in chapters 13, 17, 19 and 139, the digressions are explanations that are perceived as unrelated to the plot, but are complimentary to the reader’s perspective of Christopher. Haddon uses digression often to imply that Christopher has difficulties maintaining relevance in the narratives structure and connotes his necessity to explain everything with precision. This accounts to unreliability as he simply reporting the world as he…
