Freak The Mighty Chapter 3 Summary

In chapter 3 of Freak the Mighty, Max is faced with the problem of being afraid of Freak. Later Max see’s that Freak got some paper helicopter thing stuck in a tree. Since Freak is a very small, bony kid he was not able to get his “helicopter” out of the tree and after Max noticed he used his height to help Freak get his “helicopter”. Once Max had helped Freak they realized neither was that bad and hang-out for the rest of the day. In Unexpected Fortunes, Claire goes to see her father in the hospital with cancer, often but leaves before her stepmom gets there. In the story Claire expresses to us her hatred of her Marsha, her stepmom because she feels Marsha treats her like a toddler. Later, Marsha came to see her husband and Claire was still there. Marsha talked to her like she was 5, not 15.”Claire responds to this conflict by talking to Marsha about her feelings. Also she gives Marsha her opinion about the situation. We can tell this because Claire states“”You’re not mad I’m here?” Claire asked”In the end Claire solves her problem by sitting with Marsha and talk and talking about how she feels. She also solves her issue by starting to accept Marsha into her life and let her help with Claire’s problems. This is shown when Claire says“”Sometimes in sorrow we find the greatest joy” She handed it to Marsha.”Here,” said Claire, “this is one should be for the both of us.”
