“Dude, those were the longest three hours of my life!” Troy exclaimed.
“They went by so quickly for me! But then again, we watched a movie in English, so...” Sandy smirked, unpacking her lunch.
I grinned, reaching into my bag for my usual packed lunch, but came up empty. “My dad forgot to pack my lunch,” I groaned, “Now I have to find Grayson.”
“Again?!” Gabe asked, “Where is your freak of a twin anyway?”
I glared at him as soon as the words escaped his mouth.
“Excuse you?” I raised by eyebrows, unimpressed. He looked scared for a second, knowing I could make him pay easily, before clearing his throat and grumbling a quiet sorry. His features softened when he saw that it was me, and he put down the thick novel.
“Matt? What are you doing here?” Confusion laced his words, quickly followed by a look of realization, “Dad forgot your lunch again, didn’t he?”
“No,” I protested, “Just wanted to see my awesome twin.” His incredulous expression was the only reply to my terrible acting skills.
“Fine, yes he forgot it again,” I gave in, “Not that you would know anything about that, you are his favorite after all.” Although I had meant that as a joke, there was a slight bitterness in my voice as I realized how true it was. “Forget it. I just need something to eat,” I snapped, all of a sudden irritated by his presence.
“Um… H… Here,” he stuttered, handing me a container with leftovers from yesterday’s fried rice. Despite the overwhelming guilt caused by his scared demeanor, I grabbed the box and marched back to my friends, leaving him behind.
