Freak the Mighty Similarities and Differences

Freak and Max are both two very different and unique characters. Freak and max seem to be almost exact opposites, they each have their own strengths and weaknesses but they also have their similarities. The number one similarity they share is, they are both judged of their outer appearance. Two differences between the two are their outer or physical appearance and, their different strengths and weaknesses.
Max and Freak are similar because they are both judged of by their outer appearance. For example, everyone thinks max is going to be exactly like his dad just because he happens to look like him. “It's more than just the way Maxwell resembles him, (...) the boy is like him, (...) you never know what he might do while we're sleeping.”(4) This quote comes to show that People Judge max off his outer appearance. Maxwell is often criticized about the way he looks, and people in the book

Max has a great physical strength but lacks intelligence and is placed in LD classes. “I never had a brain until freak came along” (1) This quote comes to show that Maxwell isn’t a very smart person. It also tells you that Max didn’t feel intelligent, until him and Freak became friends. Freak, on the other hand is the exact opposite of Maxwell. Freak lacks physical strength because of his condition and is smaller than most people. While he might lack in physical strength, he is very smart and excels in intelligence. “That’s how he talked, like right out of a dictionary. So smart you can hardly believe it.” (14) This quote comes to show that Kevin is very smart and intelligence is his strength.
