When Roosevelt became president in 1933, America was in a Great Depression while still having polio. The economy was in bad shape, and people and banks were losing money. To act on this crisis, Roosevelt decides to create "The New Deal." This new deal had dug America out of a huge hole, as it helped banks massively, and helped the everyday America lose less money. Straight after the Great Depression, WWII had lured America into the battle. In 1941 Japan had bombed Pearl Harbor, and US had declared war on Japan. FDR had teamed up with England and their prime minister Winston Churchill to try to take out the enemy. FDR was always making battle plans with his generals and allies to try to defeat the opponent. While he was back at home in America he would talk over the radio in his "Fireside chats" to rally America to join and help out in the war. Eventually America and England had defeated the Italians and Germans and had won the battle. FDR was a very productive and successful president although he had a disease that would bother and try to slow him down everyday, but FDR had won the battle over his disease.
