Franklin Delano Roosevelt, commonly known by his initials FDR, was an American statesman and a political leader that served as the 32nd President of the United States of America. Previous president Theodore Roosevelt, who had served in office from 1901 to 1909, was a distant cousin to FDR, making it not surprising to the public when he ran for office under the Democratic Party. While Roosevelt was president from 1933 to 1945, he helped the nation in a variety of ways, including economically, socially, and politically.
