Roosevelt made a powerful speech the day after the tragic Pearl Harbor Japanese attack. In his speech he focused on the following key points; the attack against the United States was un-provoked, Japan made attacks on multiple other areas in the Pacific, and it will be a primary focus to ensure an attack similar to this one will never happen again. Prior to the attack, Japan had exhibited intents to only better the relationship between Japan and the United States. This was true for many of the other besieged locations. Attacks were made on Malaya, Hong Kong, Guam, the Philippine Islands, Midway Island, and of course, Pearl Harbor. Roosevelt ensured that he would use his power as President and Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy, every effort would be made to avenge the lives and resources lost on December 7th, 1941.
