The homeless people did everything to keep a roof over their head, including making snacks out of shacks out of anything.The more people became homeless, the more competitive the job market became. During the great depression the dust bowl was going on also, the dust bowl was created by by a drought over plowing of the soil and the techniques of the farmers.When the wind picked up, it also picked up a the dark soil this affected the living conditions on the plains. There was also starvation and illness all around the countries.Everyone that didn't have a job had a hard time feeding themselves. And if the could eat it made them more prone to get an illness. If someone was unemployed it was more likely they would live in hooverville which made it easier to get sick. Children also suffered most of them for a long term effects of a poor diet and medication care.
