Theodore Roosevelt, who is the only president to have been elected for three terms, is often seen as a popular president not just for his attitude, but also for his plan called the New Deal. Roosevelt’s plan directly created jobs for people and led to the Social Security Act. Bernie Sanders’ platform affects people’s lives just as much as Roosevelt’s New Deal and it requires just as much cooperation from American citizens. Even now, many people are excited about Bernie too. He has volunteers all across the nation supporting his campaign. In the Time cover story “The Gospel of Bernie,” Sam Frizell highlights much of the attention, positive and negative, that Sanders attracts. Frizell mentions the fact that Sanders has spoken to students at an extremely conservative Christian university, when he is a far left liberal, and that Sanders has also drawn huge crowds to rallies across the nation. Not only that, the author points out that Bernie has over 180,000 registered volunteers for his campaign and that people like Corbin Trent have traded in their livelihoods to support Bernie. Even though the article almost entirely supports Sanders, it does take a moment to note that there have candidate like Bernie Sanders before, and each one has lost their support. These previous candidates though failed to keep the momentum that they created going. They did not harness the power of their supporters and they simply took them for granted. If Bernie Sanders can keep the support of voters, and keep gaining momentum, he definitely does have a chance to win the 2016 presidential election; however Sanders is nowhere near perfect. While his domestic platform is strong, he could definitely strengthen his international plans so that he can garner more support and increase his chances at winning the
