According to Professor Carrigan, FDR called December 7th to be “a date which will live in infamy” (lecture 09.01). When the US finally declared war on the Axis Power, Franklin D. Roosevelt encourage the nation to keep hope alive, and that we will win the war. “No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion…the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory” (lecture 09.01). I like how FDR trying to encourage the nation because he probably knows that anything is possible and that we should keep trying until finally succeed.
