Frankford Classroom Observation

In the classroom, I was observing at SPIN: Frankford, the teacher used the different steps of direct instruction in her classroom. In direct instruction there are 6 guiding principles and I thought in the classroom I was observing, the teacher used all six of these principles. I thought the lessons the teacher taught were well organized, and sequenced manner. When I was there, all her lessons she had were nicely organized in a binder. Before the teacher would start the lesson she would start with a short review of the previously learned skilled, so she could start the new lesson, so if the children previously learned the letter “I” and she would review what she did with the class by asking questions and than she would introduce the new lesson, which was the letter “”J”. The teacher would start the lesson with a short goal, to make it clear for the students that did not understand the lesson. She made a short goal, because it helped the students understand what they were going to be doing during and after she did the lesson. The teacher gave the students many opportunities to practice the skills and she would present the new material in small steps to help the students understand the concept better. …show more content…
The classroom, I observed was student-centered based, because most of the time the classroom were working and playing in groups and pairs. When I was there observing all their work was worked in groups and pairs and if the teacher saw that one of her students were struggling she would work with them individually. Most of the instructional process, I saw in my class was during circle time and story
