For similarities, Frankenstein and Prometheus try and change things for the better, for different reasons I'll get into in the next paragraph. Their actions were both bad though. Therefore, they were punished for what they do. They suffered great pain for what they did. They didn't listen to what people were saying when they were told not to do what they were doing. They were being inconsiderate. Not to mention, the both stole from people. Again, in different ways. Honestly, …show more content…
There was no way Mary Shelley would have guessed how advanced our technology would be today. She made this book back in 1818, technology back then wasn't as advanced. Technology now though, is so advanced, we are actually doing a human head transplant. Neuroscientist, Dr. Sergio Canavero, is the one doing the head transplant, with the help of a Chinese surgeon named Dr. Xiaoping Ren. A Russian man named Valerie Spiridonov has a rare and fatal genetic disorder called Werdnin-Hoffmann Disease. What this does is it breaks down muscles and kills nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that help the body move. Due to this, he has to be in a wheelchair. He has volunteered to be the person they do the head transplant on. Now, this may sound crazy, but head transplants have actually been tested before, on mice that is, not humans. They have been successful every time. What the doctors will do is cool Spiridonov 's body down to fifty degrees Fahrenheit to delay tissue death for one hour. They will use a transparent diamond blade to cut through the spine so they don't do hardly any damage. They will then use a special type of glue, or chemical, called Polyethylene Glycol. (PEG) Doing this will promote regrowth of the cells in the spinal cord. Spiridonov will be kept in a coma for three to four weeks to prevent any movement while he is healing. There is a ninety percent plus chance of
