Frankenstein Frankenstein was a gothic romance novel written in 1818 by Mary Shelley. Mary Shelley creates many characters with great details using themes and symbols. she associates three themes with her novel. The theme of loneliness, knowledge, and monstrous. the theme monstrous for Frankenstein has been pondered in many minds of who the real monster is, Victor Frankenstein or the real monster himself. Victor Frankenstein is driven by knowledge and his discovery makes him create a monster. Victor shuts everyone out is his life which includes his loved one Elizabeth and his entire family. Hatred and revenge took over it,it did not take target everyone but the one that made this all possible. but the monstrous feeling of being abandoned and loneliness knew that the only way to hurt him was to go after the ones he cares about."I will be with you on your wedding night" the hatred the monster has for victor is inhumane how he tells him that he will kill you wife all cause of victor who deprived it of a family, nurturing relationship, a childhood, and a companion brought this curse on Frankenstein himself. his monstrosity inhumane actions just made a monster who feeds of destruction. At the end when Frankenstein died the monster was holding him and he wept not of sadness cause of the death of victor but how it did not feel happy after seeing him. that all that hatred actually showed love in a sense that even though he made is life miserable he was his creator, he was his father. It points back on how victor was the true monster of this novel that how he thrived for discovery of life that he forgot his family and shoved them to the side and Elizabeth whom he would marry. That no matter what happen he would have to make the creature and discover life but all it lead to him was the death of his family and his own. But in a way the novel itself could be seen as a monster that it is combined or broken up stories and character just like pieces that created the monster in the first place, But the main monstrosity is human society from obsession of wanting something towards, jealousy, loneliness, to destruction from abortion saying who has the right to take that life even when they do not get a say in it, it all points back to humanity 's
