So he gets different body parts from graves and morgues but all of this doesn't bother him until he brings the monster to life. "Now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart."(35) This is important because the whole time it took Victor to make the creature he's not at all affected by it, but the moment he is ready to bring the creature to life he realizes his mistake but by then it's too late. After realizing the abhor of the situation he becomes very ill, "for I was lifeless, and did not recover my senses for a long, long time"(38) Henry Clerval his friend, nurses him back to health. Shortly before he returns to Geneva he receives a letter saying his younger brother has been murdered he has suspicions of who the killer is and they are proven to be correct. The monster is the killer, and he demands a companion but as Victor try's to fulfill the monsters wishes he is overcome with disgust and destroys the companion. This is very important because it shows how he was willing not to make the same mistake twice. The cottagers, whom the "beast" hoped to befriend, made him think twice about his decisions, "I found that in doing this I inflicted pain on the cottagers, I abstained, and satisfied myself with berries, nuts, and roots which I gathered from a neighboring wood."(78) What the creature sees really impact him, he sees that humans can be good. Because of what he sees he stops taking their food and decides to find his own food, so that way the Delacey family wouldn't have to perish because of his greedy needs. Even after the Delacey family kicks him out of their house and leaves him he still has hope in humankind. His benevolence was not appreciated but he still continued his search to find companionship "With extreme labour from the force of the current saved her... every means in my power to restore animation."(101) In other words, he could have watched the girl die, because after all what would one life mean to him after everything humans put him through but he didn't watch her die. He still risked his life to save her life. This is important because it shows he still has faith in humankind, after everything humankind has put him through. Ultimately, this shows time after time he still comes through and helps humans after they all treat him
