Lightning flashed outside the mansion. Curled branches of long-dead trees were illuminated by its momentary glow. Bill Dagger clutched his knife as an unknown figure’s shadow rose up the spiral staircase at the front of the room. As the top of the figure’s head emerged from the shadows, he could see the thing’s grotesque features. It stared at him for a moment, standing still. Suddenly, it came charging at him. It drew nearer and nearer until…

“This episode of ‘Dagger’s Daring Deeds’ will continue after this commercial break.”

“Aw, come on! This is the worst time for commercials!” Three friends were sitting on a couch, enjoying a sleepover. Mark, who continued to complain about the unfortunately placed pause from his favorite show, was the host of the party.

“I’m going to grab some snacks. We’re running low,” said another. This

It is believed that the sentry is searching for his missing head. It is unknown if there is a way to protect oneself from this creature, but it is suspected that if someone were to find its head, the creature might stop its haunting of this cursed plantation.

It all made perfect sense. The creature Henry had seen was the Headless Sentry. It was leaving those trails of blood. The sentry had attacked his friends. Even the gunshots he had heard when the power first went out now made sense. The only question left unanswered was where his friends had gone. He began to reread the article, when suddenly he heard the basement door creak open.

At the top of the stairs, the Headless Sentry stood. Blood dripped down the stairs. Mark knew he had to face this thing by finding its head. But where could it be? Mark suddenly asked himself, Why did that thing lead me here? If it wanted to scare us, it would lead us all here and then attack us. He knew the basement was important… somehow. Then, he realized. The head has to be

Prompt #1: After Victor reads Elizabeth’s letter, he seems very distressed. He didn’t want his family to worry about him like that, so he quickly wrote them back. I think felt this way because the one who told him about the worry his family had for him was Elizabeth. He cared for and didn’t want her to be sad due to his actions. “ ‘Dear, dear Elizabeth!’…

It was a damp and stormy night in Germany; the rain was pouring down, and crashing on streets and homes alike in the city of Berlin. A plane would be landing with an important passenger looking for someone, someone who could aid in solving a mystery. There would be lightning striking outside the city, thunder rolling and crash like waves on a stony shore, as lightning flashes. The storm’s assault on the log cabins roof sounds like someone dropping sand on a sheet of tin, but is strangely calming, like rain should be. In side the cabin would sit a man, he would wear a trench coat and spectacles.…

At the end of the novel, I believe the title stays true to the story, and Rufus is killed. I think what happens is that Victor, speeding towards Althea, desperate to get to Delilah, hits Rufus. “Victor, frantic to get to his presumably dying love, is driving over the speed limit to get to her. All he has on his mind is her and doesn’t seem to notice the boy absently crossing the street with his headphones on. In an instant, he’s hit him and even more, dread fills him.…

Without thinking, I turned and sprinted faster than I ever had before, my squad members close behind. Trying to ignore John's screams of anguish, I continued down the path we had originally come down. As we were nearing the exit, I saw the creature pounce on, and proceed to tear one of my colleagues to pieces before my eyes. This can't be real, I told myself as I burst into the frigid night through the door we had originally come through.…

In the book Frankenstein, by Mary Shelly, there is one main underlying theme that stuck out compared to the rest of them. It was family/love. In the novel throughout almost the whole book, there is always something to do with family. From beginning to end, even when the reader might not realize it, there is almost always family involved. “When my father returned from Milan, he found playing with me in the hall of our villa a child fairer than pictured Cherub-a creature who seemed to shed radiance from her looks and whose form and motions were lighter than the chamois of the hills.…

'Who can this man be?' Sheila wondered as she looked at the stranger standing at the front door. She was absolutely confused to understand what she was seeing because she had hit her head with a column in the living room in the middle of the night. Although she was looking at the man from the window, it was such a freezing night that she could feel the strong wind kicking her pale face. Bravely, she decided to open the door and confront the man who was like a dark figure far away. '…

He began to panic and ran into the West direction searching for a doorway or door. He carefully placed his hand on the wall and felt around and luckily found a switch. Scared of what might happen, he kept his hand placed on the switch and held his breath when moving it. He closed his eyes, and when they opened, he was mortified. He began hyperventilating as he saw at least four corpses on metal tables that were a beige color.…

He hadnt long to wonder however, as he stood and examined the room there was another rumble through the castle and an almighty crash as the bricks ad masonry of the roof showered down, diving to the side, he rose to see a huge, monstrous creature land in the center of the room, or perhaps land was to elegant a term. The creatures stubby legs were the first thing he saw, two feet that looked small compared to the legs they were attatched to, the legs of the creature were large, the belly of the beast was larger, dropping down and fat, and in the monsters hands was a massive club, studded with metal and partially covered in dried blood. The monster roared and stepped forward its club ready to swing, Venns eyes widened in fear and he turned on his heel, looking for an escape. As the beast roared at him he spotted a doorway at the side of the room and started…

I and my friends, Dexter and Peter, were playing around an ancient, abandoned mansion on the outskirts of the city. There was a sign on the perimeter fence “Enter, at your own risk!”. However, curiosity arose us and we picked the rusty lock, granting us entry into the sacred place of the unknown. I unlocked the door, to my horror, scarce bones, were precariously hanging, from the ceiling above. There was a sudden rush of blood from my head to my toes as the door behind us swung shut.…

Many of the professional literary critiques that emerged following the publishing of Frankenstein were less than positive in their evaluations of its quality and value. Some of these critics devalued it based on its failure to present a positive message to readers while others criticized inconsistencies within the story. One article that criticized both aspects of this novel was The Literary Panorama and National Register’s “Review of Frankenstein; or the Modern Prometheus.” This paper was well known in this era and considered a credible source of information regarding literature. Despite offering superficial compliments, the author attempts to prove that this work of fiction is a disappointment considering the school from which it proceeds.…
