My first experience while reading frankenstein was very interesting.I thought the book was to confusing and the switching back between characters was a little difficult to follow. I also did not enjoy this book because at first , most of the book was on victor, instead of the monster. My first main question for this book was, Is the monster real? I did not know if victor just had a psychological problem or if the monster was just a shadow or a ghost.I also questioned how the author transitioned into each character in this book.I thought that the way the author wrote the text was a little confusing. The author would switch characters between the creation and the main character in such quick ways that you were often lost as to whose part it was.I …show more content…
I thought that if the story was told the other way around with waltons part first , the story would of made alot more sense.I knew that victor had created the creation , but i did not know if the creation was a ghost or a real human being.Once I finished the book I came to the conclusion that the creation could of been a ghost but also, he also could of been an illusion. What I enjoyed about this book was that this book , shows the development of science increasing technology. Its displays how science is trying to make technology more man-like.The setting of the book was in a time period where science was really starting to come in to play and take over technology , instead of religion. When I first started to read frankenstein I did not enjoy the book.It was not untill the monster started killing the people victor was close with, that the book started to get …show more content…
One of the theories that I was able to come up with is that not all advancements of technology are good for society. For example victor created the monster , but the monster was not beneficial to society. The monster did nothing but destroy society. Victor stated, “That the monster was selfish and evil and that he destroyed his friends”(shelly,185).Another theory I thought was created from this book was that sometimes we human being create things that we do not know whether will produce a good outcome or a bad one.A quote i found that supports this theory is when , Victor said,”That the creation of the monster did not mean to turn into something more than what he expected ”(Shelly,185).Both of these theories can be related to my major. I am a community health major and I know in the science and health profession there are constantly new advances of technologies. There are technologies created to benefit society, but end up harming society. For example antibiotics are very useful to society but also are producing a bad affect on society because sometimes the body can become too immune to an antibiotic and then the body starts to resist them.I can say

Some of these critics devalued it based on its failure to present a positive message to readers while others criticized inconsistencies within the story. One article that criticized both aspects of this novel was The Literary Panorama and National Register’s “Review of Frankenstein; or the Modern Prometheus.” This paper was well known in this era and considered a credible source of information regarding literature. Despite offering superficial compliments, the author attempts to prove that this work of fiction is a disappointment considering the school from which it proceeds.…
