When will it be completed?" One of the nameless ones growled over my shoulder as I languidly polished my typewriter. I looked at my creation with a smile, concealing my annoyance. "All in due time, dearest," I replied. Could he actually kill me? I'm not certain. Did he want to? Of course he did, it was his nature. But he wouldn't. I monitored him pace back and forth the room with the fluidity and control of a lynx. The fire danced and crackled before us, heightening the already unbearably delicious tension in the room.
