water. Adult Snakeheads are usually a dark brown or black color with some discoloration on their sides. Snakeheads are also different than most fish because they can actually breathe air. They have sacs in the rear portion of their head that can hold air and transfer the oxygen directly to their blood. There are rumors of these fish being able to walk on land which has given the nickname “Frankenfish.” Although they do not actually walk, they are able to wiggle their way from pond to pond over land due to the fact that they can stay alive out of water for several days.
