I think that is one of the reasons why I see some connections between the show and society today. Underwood, his wife and his staff are out for revenge and won’t stop until they hurt the ones that betrayed them and put up obstacles in their climb to power. We see that a lot in today’s society both in the political arena with the Presidential Election and everyone trying to bad-mouth and back stab their opponents to make themselves look better to the people. We also see it in schools and how kids treat each other on a daily basis. Girls are the worse and will do anything to make themselves look better to others no matter how many other girls they hurt. Talking behind each other’s backs, making fun of how others act or dress, bullying and pretending to be friends with someone to get something from them. In one of the episodes of the show Claire makes it seem like she is friends with the first lady and convinces her to go to marriage counseling in hopes that will begin her husband's downward spiral as president. It’s too bad that people have to act or pretend a certain way to get something they want, instead of trying to do it the right way and the kind
