Frank Lloyd Wright was born on June 8, 1867 in the small farming town of Richland Center, Wisconsin. Even before he was born, his mother Anna Lloyd Jones knew he would be a great architect. His mother was very fond of her first born son. This was not the case for Frank’s younger sisters, Jane and Magnial whom she often neglected. Frank soon saw his mother as the single most important figure in his early life. In 1876 Anna went to the Philadelphia’s Centennial Exposition and was educated about Froebel Toys. These were geometric blocks specially designed by Friedrich Froebel for kindergarteners. Frank was nine at the time however, Anna decided to buy the toys.
