In ¨Looking Glass Wars¨by Frank Beddor, the story of Alice in Wonderland gets a bit hectic. In the story, Alyss Heart, who is the princess of Wonderland, is planning to have an amazing birthday; but it didn't go as planned. Her evil Aunt Redd has an extensive line of hate towards her sister; Queen Genevieve. So, Alyss is forced to leave the Queendom, and live a normal life in London. Alyss, Eventually, comes and takes back what is hers from her Aunt Redd. When Frank Beddor put his twist on the story, he showed his readers that, no matter what condition; poor, rich, sad, depressed, happy, if you always have Courage, Kindness, and Determination, you wiĺl be just fine.
One character who had Courage, Kindness, and a whole lot of Determination, is Hatter Madigan. The Hatter was told ¨You have to keep the Princess safe until she's old enough to rule¨(65) by Queen Genevieve before she died. Alyss presented most of her courage when she found out both of her parents were dead. "I saw my father, the King of Wonderland, murdered. My mother, the queen, is dead. Both of them were killed by my aunt."(101-102) From then she just had a little fireball in her that made her fearless. She knew what had happened and knows everything she does is for her parents. She also displays Determination, but, along with the determination, Alyss figured out that kindness will get you far as well. “Alyss Heart, holding tight to Hatter Madigan, plummeted toward the surface of the water below.”(71) Alyss knew she had to follow what her mother told Hatter Madigan and herself, she had to stay with it all of the time.
