The technique that Boucher used was oil painting on a canvas, although it is a painting parts of it look like it could be real like some of the furniture especially the legs on the tables look as if they were carved out of real wood. The people in the painting look as if they could be made of porcelain. There is a lot of depth in the room as well and this is because of the shading he used in the corners of the room. In the mirror there is a reflection of a door the type of brush stroke that is on the door is a hatch stroke. It looks a bit rough but intentionally.
