Francisco Amighetti was born on June 1st, 1907 in San José, Costa Rica. He was a Costa Rican painter, and he also made wood engravings. He wrote poetry and works of art criticism. He made his artwork based on the lifestyle of Costa Rica and the Costa Rican people. He attended a high school only for boys and his teachers wanted him to go to the Academia de Bella Artes where he studied drawing and painting and eventually gained stardom through cartoons that he made. Even though he didn't have very many art opportunities in Costa Rica, he stayed there and he went on to try to perfect his art like painting and drawing. He then traveled through Europe, Asia, and the United States to show off his creations. In the 1950’s, he really gained recognition
