Francis Jesse Deguire, former inmate at Brockville jail in eastern Ontario, is filing a lawsuit against the Ontario government. Deguire claims the province failed to ensure his safety and the brutal beating he endured behind bars was a result of the province’s negligence. Deguire nearly detached his eyelid and suffered from a head injury. Furthermore, Deguire claims he expressed his concerns to the correctional officers and told them he would rather sleep on the floor then be placed in Dorm 2 but, his request was denied. Documentation states” Within approximately five minutes of being placed in Dorm 2, the plaintiff was seriously assaulted.”.
