Francis Ford Coppola's The Outsiders

“Stay gold Ponyboy” have you ever wondered where that saying came from? Come watch Francis Ford Coppola’s The Outsiders movie. It’s a movie based on the book The Outsiders. The Outsiders is about a feud between the greasers and the Socs. It’s got a great cast of characters Matt Dillon, Diane Lane, and so many more.
To appreciate the movie, we must look closely at the symbols, the cast, and the theme. Some symbols are Two-Bit’s blade and Bob’s blue mustang. My favorite cast members are Rob Lowe and Matt Dillon. I like them because they are great actors. Some of the themes in the story are “Rough All Over” and “Nothing Gold Can Stay” from a Robert Frost poem.
The reasons why I believe the movie correlates with the book are how well Dally acted

Matt and Ruth played by Tom Wilkinson and Sissy Spacek are brilliant choices. Matt, fearful in his fatherly role yet strong when something needs to be handled. The book ‘The Outsiders’, a novel by S.E Hinton takes place in a rough neighborhood where they are all friends. There are two gangs in this area that are rivals, The Greasers, and the Socs. They are complete polar opposites; the Greasers have long greasy hair and rough clothing but they all come together to form a big family, whereas the Socs have slicked back short hair and nice clothing. In addition, to their nice clothing and hair they also have fancy cars and houses. But, they still have their problems.…

In my essay on, “The Outsiders”, I will be arguing that the Soc’s and the greasers are not very different if you compare the two of them. This is important because people are always saying that the Soc’s started something or that the Greaser’s started something but in the end they are just two rival gangs that both do bad things in their own ways. I would say that I would not be classified as a Greaser or a Soc. In my opinion, the Greasers and the Socs are not very different; they both commit crimes, they are both loyal to their friends, and they both start fights. The Greaser’s and the Soc’s are both criminals and they both commit crimes in different ways.…

Sade Adu once said “I think you only really feel like an outsider if you’ve been an insider.” S.E. Hinton thinks that the greasers are outsiders. In the book The Outsiders people only think of greasers as no good J.D. hoods when they are real people with real problems. Randy stands out from other Socs because he is less violent and he shows his emotions. First and foremost, randy is less violent than other Socs.…

Have you ever looked at someone and made assumptions on what that person is like based on how they look. The fictional novel “The Outsiders” by S.E Hinton, is about a boy named Ponyboy who is arguing with himself on whether or not his brother Darry loves him. The author is trying to get across to readers about how labels are put on people based on their looks. Evidence to support this theme is that the book was made in 1967, Hinton was trying to tell readers about what was happening around her. Labeling has been happening for over 50 years and is still happening to this day.…

Crowd or Mob, Group or Outsider A crowd can easily turn into a mob because of uncertainty and or anger. Support for this statement is shown in the book “The Outsiders” by S. E. Hinton, a story about a boy in a lower social class who gets involved in a killing which leads to the death of some of his friends and a social class fight. It is also supported by the play “The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street” by Rod Serling which is a story about a town in which weird events happen and chaos takes over. Also in the story “The Outsiders” by S. E. Hinton it shows how you can be part of a group and still feel alone if the group does not share the same ideas as the individual.…

The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton, is about the story of a boy named Ponyboy, who lives with his brothers and is apart of a gang called the Greasers, and they are rivals with another gang called the Socs. The novel is the story of how they relate to one another, and the story of growth in Ponyboy’s life. The poem “Nothing Gold Can Stay” is included in the story, as recited by Ponyboy to Johnny, to make a statement about gold. The poem discusses an unfortunate aspect of life, that being that the young cannot stay young, just as the leaves cannot stay green. For my film analysis, I chose to analyze the movie “The Outsiders” directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based on the novel “The Outsiders” by S. E. Hinton. In this movie, a gang of outcasts from the north side of town called the Greasers are always fighting against a rival group called the Socials, who are the rich jocks from the south side of town. The story follows two young Greasers, Johnny and Ponyboy, who aren’t like the others. These two see that fighting is pointless, but it’s just the way they live their life. The two boys get into a fight with some Socials and end up killing one.…
